Archaeological Museum "San Lorenzo"

The private space

Fine I sec. a.C. - inizi I sec d.C.

Fragment

The technique of the mosaic was the most used for the floors of the most important and elegant rooms of the domus.

The majority of the mosaics found in Cremona presents a geometrical pattern, sometimes enriched by vegetable elements.

The exceptions are the scene of the Minotaur’s killing of the Labyrinth domus, the seasons’ busts of the mosaic in Cadolini Street and, concerning the Domus del Ninfeo, the marsh scene with ducks and water plants and the one with the river bend containing pictures of leaves, flowers and birds, which was the floor of one of the bedrooms (cubiculum).
